Flap-neck chameleon with a prey
1
0
The chameleon has an extraordinary tongue that, once fully unfolded, is almost as long as its body length. It catches its preys, such as small lizards, bugs or grasshoppers, thanks to this telescopic tongue and its sticky tip. Propelled at a speed of about 5 m/s, the blow is devastating. The victim is caught in the sticky mucus that allows the chameleon to bring it back and to swallow it.
