The construction of Saint-Bartholomew Church in Gorbio, in the Alpes-Maritimes department, lasted from 1670 to 1683. The works' financing was ensured by a tax on wheat and wine, as well as by a participation of the village's lords and the parish priest. The monument has kept the name of the former church dedicated to Saint Bartholomew, one of the twelve apostles who became the patron saint of butchers, tanners, and bookbinders.
