The harvesting of oysters came after a 4-year cycle. During a first phase, farmers soaked young oysters in the lagoon in order to let them reach a critical size; then, a graft and a small ball called nucleus were implanted. Finally, another phase of 2 years was needed in order to shape a true black pearl.
