Once the pulp recovered from the heart of the sago trunk has been crushed and watered by the Korowai women, it is filtered through a natural sieve made from sago leaves. This filtering makes it possible to isolate the solid particles from the finer ones which will constitute the sago flour and to drain the water out of the vegetal channels set up for the operation.
