Jaguar female reaches sexual maturity at about 2 years old. It advertises fertility with urinary scent and vocalizations. After a gestation period of around one hundred days, it gives birth and drives the male away from its cubs in the fear that it eats them. When they are 6 months old, these future great predators of American rainforests are weaned: their mother then teaches them to hunt.
