Fastest species in the animal kingdom
The cheetah has a very flexible skeleton, especially at the level of the spine, which gives it a great flexibility of movement. Within three seconds, it is able to reach speeds of almost 60 miles per hour (90 km/h) from a dead stop. It can maintain its top speed of about 70 miles per hour (110 km/h) over a hundred meters. This top speed has already been measured at almost 75 miles per hour (120 km/h). It is the fastest species in the animal kingdom.
