Caledonian Far West, west of Grande-Terre
0
0
The western part of Grande-Terre - known as the 'leeward' coast - extends into dry plains punctuated by low hills. It is a savannah region where niaoulis and erythrins grow and where large herds of cattle graze. It can be compared to a kind of Caledonian Far West where extensive cattle breeding has developed. The rivers open into flared bays bordered by sandy beaches and mangroves.
