The family groups of Przewalski horses (Equus ferus przewalskii) of the Monts d'Azur Reserve live all year round under the guidance of their dominant stallions, unlike other animal groups such as bison. The breeding season runs from April to June and requires a lot of energy from the stallions that try to keep the group of females nearby. The Przewalski mares give birth eleven months later and instantly become highly protective with their foals.
