Honduras, where agriculture is a pillar of the economy, is one of the least developed and poorest countries in Latin America. The main crops are corn, beans, potatoes, coffee, bananas and palm trees for palm oil. The average area cultivated by an agricultural family is 0.72 hectares. The work, from sowing to harvest, is mainly carried out by hand with as only tools machetes (machete) and hoes (azadon).
