Family boats

The barquettes marseillaises maintained in the Borg workshops bear witness to the history of the people of Marseille and their city. They are often family boats passed down from generation to generation and baptized with first names given in honor of a newborn, a deceased relative, or a beloved wife who will over time become a mother and then a grandmother. The tradition wanted the boat to be given the name of the family's last born at the time of its purchase. The boats' names also tell the story of Marseille and its places.
