The rocky cliffs and spurs are the typical morphology of much of the coastline of the Canadian Arctic Archipelago. These rocky shores have two main origins : they can be cut in the bedrock or formed of non-lithified sediments solidarized by the ground ice. As for the shorelines of the inter-island passages, they generally form thin platings of rough sediments in the rock.
