The Explorers
Located 279 miles (450 km) north-east of Tahiti, Fakarava is one of the seventy-six atolls of the Tuamotu archipelago in French Polynesia. Equipped with an aerodrome with a 4,593 feet (1400m) long track, it is accessible from Papeete in a two hours flight with a stopover in Rangiroa. Also known as 'Havaiki-te-araro', it is part of the Palliser Islands subgroup.
