Factory treatment of ocher
0
0
Ocher ore is a sort of clay loaded with iron oxide and a high proportion of sand extracted in surface quarries or mines. After separating the ocher from the sand by washing and settling, the dried and cut clods of ocher are treated in the factory using clod breakers, crushers, and sieves, until a fine powder is obtained. The locality of Gargas is home to the last ocher quarry in the Luberon region.
