The pelican is an aquatic bird that feeds almost exclusively on fish. Known for its large beak, the pelican can hold more food in its mouth than in its stomach. If it can store 10kgs of food in its beak, its stomach can only hold 3kgs. Thus, the time it digests, the food is stored in its esophagus before going down to the stomach.
