In the field of ocher exploitation, whenever the sterile earth layer on top of the ocher ore does not exceed in thickness the layer of ore, one proceeds to opencast exploitation, easier and less expensive than mining. The surface barren soil is first removed and set aside for the future redevelopment of the quarry, in accordance with the guidelines from the Ministry of the Environment.
