With a 50% success rate, cheetahs are excellent hunters. Unlike other predators that usually hunt weak or sick individuals, most of their preys are healthy. They spend a lot of energy running to their prey and they often need several tens of minutes to catch there breath before eating. They also have to eat quickly at the risk to be stolen by other predators, such as lions or hyenas.
