Evolutions of bells decorations
0
0
The decorations of bells have evolved over the centuries. If they were minimalist in the Middle Ages (often a simple medallion), they reached their peak in the 19th century. Friezes of acanthus leaves or fruit surrounded the skirt, and religious characters appeared. The fashion eventually passed, and the bells became sober once again for 200 years. The Fonderie Cornille-Havard gives ornaments pride of place and even calls on contemporary artists to break away from the religious model.
