L’Euphorbe maritime est une plante herbacée de la famille des Euphorbiacées.
Elle pousse sur les sables du littoral (dunes embryonnaires et mobiles).
Elle pousse en touffes de 30 à 60 centimètres de haut.
Sa racine peut s’enfoncer jusqu’à 1 mètre de profondeur, afin de trouver l’eau et les nutriments nécessaires à sa survie.
Ses feuilles charnues, oblongues et sessiles, de couleur gris-vert se chevauchent dans une disposition alterne tout au long des tiges dressées.
