The flap-necked chameleon spend most of its time in the shrubs and in the bushes. Despite its ability to change color to blend into the environment, it might be preyed on by spiders, snakes, such as boomslang, but also monkeys, or even birds, such as ground hornbills or raptors. To escape from their predators, the flap-necked chameleon climbs up to the flimsiest branches. When it feels threatened, it may drop to the ground.
