Monumental spiral staircase
0
0
The entrance to the Unterlinden Museum in Colmar provides access to the entire museum and highlights the cloister and its Gothic architecture. There are reception areas for visitors: ticket office, cloakroom, orientation room, educational room. A monumental spiral staircase leads to the underground gallery. It connects the convent and the Ackerhof building on the other side of Unterlinden Square. Three similar spiral staircases made of cast concrete were designed by the Basel architects Herzog & de Meuron, who were responsible for the museum extension.
