El erizo de mar o castaña de mar (Paracentrotus lividus) es una especie de equinodermo de la familia Parechinidae.
Presenta un caparazón aplanado ventralmente, ocasionalmente también en el dorso. Su coloración suele ser morada aunque puede varíar y ser color café oscuro, castaño claro o verde de olivo. Tiene un diámetro de hasta 7 centímetros. Tiene púas, pero no tanto como parece visualmente. Su longitud suele ser la del diámetro de la esfera que forma el cuerpo.
Los erizos son habituales en el Mediterráneo y Atlántico oriental. Ocupa fondos rocosos pero como se alimenta de algas no es infrecuente en zonas arenosas próximas a praderas.
