The ecological balance of the Verdon is strongly impacted by the segmentation of its course and that of the Durance by several hydroelectric dams which prevent the upstreaming of anadromous fish species (salmon, eel) and fragment the populations of other species. However, the possibility of increasing the flow of the river in a specific and regulated manner in certain areas also makes it possible to improve the dynamism of its aquatic ecosystems.
