Environmental impact of the ocher industry
0
0
The industrial exploitation of ocher in the Luberon region has accentuated the effects of natural erosion on the transformation of the landscape. The galleries and quarries dug by men for the ore extraction have largely contributed to the formation of the cliffs and mineral sculptures visible today. The ocher is still encrusted in the tar of the roads, the clear waters of the streams continue to be loaded with the pigments torn from the hills after the storms, and, years after their closing, the former factories retain the colors of their activity.
