Ottrott is a village in the Vosges foothills whose territory is mainly occupied by the 6,177 acres (2,500 ha) Obernai forest. The locality extends at the foot of the Elsberg (2,296 ft / 700 m) and Mont Sainte-Odile (2,506 ft / 764 m). The famous porphyry marble was extracted there. Ottrott also stands on the road to Compostela, and its main street's pavement bears a Saint James shell.
