In the 16th arrondissement of Paris, the Avenue du Mahatma Gandhi is punctuated by groves of pedunculated oak and Austrian black pine, planted in the 19th century. The Bois de Boulogne, the former royal hunting ground of the kings of France with its bridle paths, borders the Louis Vuitton Foundation. The Jardin d’Acclimatation, inaugurated by Napoleon III in 1860, is accessible free of charge to museum visitors. A vast grassy area, the Green Mirror, has been planted at the foot of the Foundation. It is a symbol of the complementarity between culture and nature, between a futuristic museum and a traditional park.
