The old town of Manosque, in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence department, follows a characteristic pear-shaped plan. It is surrounded by peripheral boulevards planted with trees and open on the route of the old ramparts. Their walls mark a clear demarcation from the rest of the city and are punctuated by a few remains, such as the 13th-century Porte Soubeyan or the 14th-century Porte Saunerie.
