Located in the Var hinterland, Carnoules is not as touristic a destination as the coastal towns, nor is it located on the main roads of the department. It is, however, crossed by several departmental roads connecting Toulon to Le Luc and joining Besse-sur-Issole or Pierrefeu-du-Var and is only 6.2 mi (10 km) from the Cuers interchange of the motorway. Endowed with a railway station from 1862, Carnoules has a significant railway past as the only railway depot between Marseille and Nice. The presence of this depot resulted in a bombing during World War II, when 600 bombs were dropped on the town on May 25, 1944.
