A flutist by training, Emmanuel Hondré is also a graduate of the Conservatoire National de Musique et de Danse de Paris and holds a doctorate in musicology. From 2015 to January 2022, he was the Director of the Concert and Performance Department of the Philharmonie de Paris. This defector from the Salle Pleyel and the nearby Cité de la Musique knows music in all its forms. The proof is in his four first prizes from the Conservatoire, in music history, music aesthetics, musicology and flute pedagogy. On 17 January 2022, he took over as General Director of the Opéra National de Bordeaux from Marc Minkowski.
