In Corse-du-Sud, the Cavo originates from the Ospedale forest at 950 m (3,117 ft) altitude. The river has ten tributary streams and flows 22 km (14 mi). In the namesake valley, it forms hundreds of natural pools. Wild boars, mouflons, wild goats, kingfishers come to refresh themselves on its banks. Its damaged banks remind the big flood of autumn 1993 which threatened several villages. It flows in the sea between Ovu Santu beach and the hamlet of Olmucciu.
