Invented in 1791, Camembert is a soft cheese with a bloomy rind that can be enjoyed creamy or slightly refined. It is always wrapped in micro-perforated paraffin paper. This packaging lets the cheese breathe in its small circular wooden box and prevents it from sticking to the wall. The PDO label awarded to Camembert means, among other things, that the milk has not been heated during the manufacturing process.
