Breeding in vast wild areas

Camargue bulls are raised in the wild in the wetland extending within the geographical area delimited by the Rhône delta and the bordering banks. The cattle distributed according to a technical load of less than one large bovine unit for 3.7 acres (1.5 ha) stay there between April and November for at least six months. During that period, the bulls feed by themselves and possibly benefit from a supplement of fodder and cereals cultivated in the designation area. They spend the rest of the year in a peripheral zone not liable to flooding.
