Dairy farming and quality cheeses

In 2001, Alain André moved to his parents-in-law’s farm, La Grange de la Haute Vallée, in the commune of Albepierre-Bredons, in the Cantal. He abandoned the double herd (dairy and beef) and turned to dairy farming and the production of quality cheeses. A partner for ten years with Alexis and Nathalie Meironen, Alain André has been the sole manager of the business since 2016. His herd of Montbeliarde cows produces an average of 260,000 litres of raw milk each year, 90% of which is used to produce three PDO cheeses – Cantal, Salers and Bleu d’Auvergne – as well as two farmhouse cheeses and whole milk yoghurts.
