Elephants, a matriarchal social system
2
0
The matriarch is the guardian of the security, wisdom, memory and experience gained over the years. The family nucleus is composed by its daughters accompanied by their own descendants, females and immature males, in addition to baby elephants.
The family of about fifteen individuals maintains more or less close relations with other families, all forming a clan. Several clans make up a population fluctuating with the seasons and the presence of food and water in a given place.
