In the background of the elephants walking along the river, we can see other giants of the savannah: termite mounds. Of very varied shapes and structures, these mounds or chimneys can reach up to 26ft (8m) high in Africa with a base up to 98ft (30m). Source of organic and mineral richness, they favor a better productivity of the ground and have a denitrifying activity 18 times higher than that of the soil of the savannah.
