For their enormous daily consumption of fodder, elephants must constantly move along paths influenced by rainfalls and geographical barriers. Their home range is therefore immense and, to find the necessary resources to survive, they identify and memorize strategic places thanks to their excellent olfactory abilities but also to their spatio-temporal memory. This topographic memory has also allowed elephants to survive the countless persecutions they have suffered.
