Dependent on water, an adult elephant drinks up to 160l of water a day, especially in order to facilitate the digestion. Thanks to its soft and prehensile trunk, it sucks up to 10l at a time and then pours them in his mouth. Elephants are also able to smell underground water and to dig in order to drink in these water sources.
