Elephant diet

Elephants feed mainly on the leaves of trees that they pick by breaking the young branches whose bark they grind under their powerful molars. They swallow everything and wood pieces can be found in their droppings.
By digging the ground with their tusks, they look for tubers, bulbs and roots. When they eat grass, it is by tearing big tufts and shaking the earth that adheres to the roots before swallowing everything.
