In Honduras, north of Tela, a few Garifuna fishing families settled on a tongue of land located between the Caribbean Sea and the Los Micos Lagoon, a protected area of the Jeannette Kawas National Park. The neighbors of the small commune of Miami and its small traditional houses made of red mangrove and coconut leaves are green hills, mangroves, monkeys and hundreds of birds, including the elegant Great Egret (Ardea alba).
