Elaborated in beeswax

The ornaments of bells are elaborated separately with beeswax. The patterns of the headbands are often composed of acanthus leaves or vines, fruits, or symbolic patterns such as the scallop shell. The lettering varies between the uncial, the Gothic, or the contemporary. The central decoration often depicts Christ, the Virgin Mary, or saints. Thanks to the lost-wax technique, the inscriptions and ornamentations are inscribed in relief on the false bell and appear in negative inside the mold.
