The Explorers
Located at the extreme north-west of the Marquesas Archipelago (8°S, 140°42'W), Eiao was once populated but is now an uninhabited island that forms a botanical reserve. Of volcanic origin, it has a crescent shape and a very rough relief. It rises to 1896ft (578m). Divers and hunters organize occasional expeditions there.
