Neo-gothic church of Tyé

Located 5km north-west of Poindimié on the east coast of Grande-Terre, the Marist fathers' mission of Tyé surrounds a red-roofed church whose originality is due to its octagonal bell tower. First built in wood and cob by the Reverend Father Vigouroux in 1866, it was then razed down and replaced in 1899 by the current neo-gothic masonry church. Restored in 1999 by the North Province, the church and presbytery have been listed as a national heritage since 1991.
