Highly exposed to winds, the islands and islets of the Var coast are particularly affected by the levant, an easterly wind that brings rain from the Gulf of Genoa. The regime and intensity of the winds have a significant influence on the dynamics of the local vegetation and terrestrial ecosystems. The siliceous islands and islets of the Maures coast, like Léoube islet, generally have a fairly dense but poor in deciduous varieties forest cover.
