Located in the heart of Alençon, Notre-Dame Basilica is characteristic of the Flamboyant Gothic style of Normandy in the Middle Ages. Its triple portal, in stone lace surmounted by pinnacles and gargoyles, dates from the beginning of the 16th century, and its nave with five bays from the 15th century. The parents of the little girl who would become Thérèse of Lisieux in 1925 got married there. They baptized their daughter in 1873, and her baptism dress is still visible in the basilica.
