Dozens of bird species

The Birds directive of the European Commission aims to protect and preserve all species of wild birds. At least 107 of them have been identified on the banks of Orient Lake and its peninsulas. If it includes migratory and accidental species, this figure rises to 250 in the Orient Forest Regional Nature Park. Orient Lake, which is part of it, made it possible to revive the population of gray herons (Ardea cinerea), which was declining in the region.
