Double climatic influence
The Champagne region is subject to a double climatic influence, continental and oceanic. It therefore benefits from favourable sunshine in the summer as well as constant and moderate rainfall throughout the year. As it is located at the northern limit of vine growing, the Champagne region is influenced by climatic variations: winter and spring frosts, rain and cold weather in June, and hailstorms in summer. The plains are very exposed to the wind while the hillsides are protected. Forests are very present as a result.
