Dole, the most populous town in the Jura department with 23,400 inhabitants, has always fought for the preservation and enhancement of its heritage. It benefits from a protected sector since the 1960s and from the 'Action Coeur de Ville' plan launched in 2014. This national plan with five billion euros mobilized over five years intends to enable two hundred and twenty-two medium-sized french towns to give a new dynamics to their city centers by improving their living conditions and by reinforcing their driving role in the development of the territory.
