Doi Inthanon rice terraces

Along the Pha Dok Sieo Nature Trail, people from the Karen hill tribe lead the way to show their way of life in the mountains of Northern Thailand. The Royal Project, initiated by the former King Rama IX, has helped the people from the hill tribes to plant rice terraces (as in this photograph), avocados, coffee and tea. Plantations are regulated here in the Doi Inthanon National Park where gibbons can occasionally be found swinging the evergreen forest.
