The coastline of Corsica stretches over more than 621mi (1,000km) with a diversity of landscapes which has contributed to its nickname 'Island of Beauty'. Although several coastal areas are fully protected and free of constructions - such as the 18.6mi (30km) between Campomoro and Roccapina or the 62mi (100km) of eastern lagoons - others have been subject to a more or less marked urbanization.
