Distribution of lavender in France

In France, lavender is mainly cultivated in the Alpes de Haute-Provence, especially on Valensole plateau, in the middle and high Verdon and in several municipalities of the Asse valley (Barrême, Castellane, La Mure-Argens ). There are also lavender fields in the Alpes-Maritimes, Drôme and Vaucluse. In the higher altitude areas of the Alpes de Haute-Provence, the harvest period is longer and extends from July until mid-August.
