The distribution of the Cape dwarf chameleon is limited to the southwestern regions of South Africa. This species is viviparous and can generate one to several offsprings of about ten to fifteen individuals each year. The mortality rate of neonates is high due to an intense reproduction schedule and a good fecundity.
